Who is CBL International Summer Business School for?
CBL International Oxford Summer Business School is a programme specifically designed for students and young professionals with a strong interest in international business law affairs.

Do I need a visa to travel to Oxford/UK?
In general, holders of passports of the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and European Union member countries do not need a visa for traveling to the UK. Delegates are responsible for informing themselves of any necessary travel visas and therefore we recommend that you check at the UK Border Agency’s website if you need to apply for a visa.

How do I get to Oxford?
Oxford is about 60 miles (90 kms) northwest of London and has excellent road and national rail links. Regular coach services connect Oxford with the capital and also with Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton airports.

From London airports

London Heathrow and Gatwick airports are linked to Oxford by The Airline coach service, which operates a direct frequent service twenty-four hours a day (tel: +44 (0)1865 785400 ).

London Stansted airport is linked to Oxford by the National Express 757 coach service, running every two hours (tel: +44 (0)8705 747777).

A number of companies, including Oxicars, CCB Cars, and Findlay’s, offer pre-bookable airport transfers.

By train

A direct service operates between Oxford and London Paddington (approximately every 30 minutes), and between Oxford and Birmingham New Street via Banbury and Coventry. Other services operate from the north via Birmingham New Street; from the South via Reading; and from the west via Didcot or Reading. By coach

Frequent 24-hour direct services connect Oxford with London (peak times every 10-20 minutes). The Oxford Express service includes Victoria Coach Station, Grosvenor Gardens, Marble Arch, Baker Street/Gloucester Place and Hillingdon (tel: +44 (0)1865 785410). The Oxford Tube service includes Grosvenor Gardens, Marble Arch, Notting Hill Gate, Shepherd’s Bush, and Hillingdon (tel: +44 (0)1865 772250). For information on coaches to other major cities and airports contact National Express (tel: +44 (0)8705 808080). Coaches arrive at Gloucester Green Coach Station in the city centre.

Where will I be staying during the programme?
All delegates will stay in accommodation of university colleges. Most of the rooms are single rooms, but we also have some twin room for two delegates to share. All room have shared bathroom facilities, some of them have wireless or cable internet connection. But as some of the rooms and building are very old, internet connection cannot be provided in all rooms. Please be aware that college rooms come in different shapes, style and sizes. There is no possibility to claim any refund in case you are not satisfied with your college accommodation.

What is “Full Board”?
The full board option offers participants the option to have lunch and dinner provided at the dormitory halls. Since our accommodation already includes breakfast, if you choose the full board option, you’ll have breakfast, lunch, and dinner prepared for you. The food is English cuisine with a variety of hot food options, sandwiches and a salad bar in addition to the cooked English breakfast and continental options in the morning. The full board option is an additional GBP 350 per two week session.

For those staying with us for more than 2 weeks, full board can either be chosen for the entire duration of the programme or none at all. As per university regulations, it is not possible to have full board for just a portion of your stay with us.

Who organises CBL International Schools in Oxford?
In the UK, CBL International programmes are run by CBL International Oxbridge Programmes Ltd. We are proud to announce that CBL International Oxbridge Programmes Ltd. is accredited by British Accreditation Council (BAC).

Which language are the lectures in?
CBL International Schools are all held in English. For those that are not native speakers, it is the chance for you to improve your English by following the lectures and site visits. Applicants are not required to hold formal qualifications in English in order to take part in the programme.

How long have CBL International Programmes been running for?
CBL International Schools have taken place since 2007. Since then, more than 3,000 students from over 70 nationalities have taken part in our international programmes.

Will there be mandatory examinations as part of CBL International programmes?
Yes, as part of all CBL International programmes there are mandatory examinations. Please refer to the schedule to find out more details about that as each location uses a particular exam style.

Do I receive a certificate for the participation in Oxford Summer Business School?
Yes, CBL International staff will present you with a certificate of attendance at the end of the programme. This presupposes that 90% of all lectures, activities, site visits, and any other compulsory events were in fact attended. Additionally, an Academic Transcript will be given to you, showing the result(s) of the exam(s). This Academic Transcript may be used to receive credits at the home university.

Is previous knowledge necessary for taking part?
No, previous knowledge is not needed. It is possible that the contents of the different modules and lectures appear very wide ranging, but the lectures are designed to engage the participant who has no prior knowledge of the business or legal issue covered. Taking account of the diversity of students’ disciplinary backgrounds from the fields of Business, Law, Economics and also international, cultural or political studies, CBL International programmes are designed to be informative for all attending delegates.

Who can participate in CBL International Schools?
CBL International Schools are programmes specifically designed for participants with a strong interest in international business and international law affairs. Undergraduate and graduate students up to age of 25 can take part, as well as students 25+ or postgraduate students and professionals. The latter will expect a different setup.

Are CBL International Schools international scientific conferences?
No. CBL International programmes are introductory courses, giving an overview of current-edge topics. Selected aspects will be covered in more detail. Nevertheless, if you are interested in one specific topic, you should think of attending an experts’ conference.

What is the workload of a CBL International School and how many credits can I get for it?
While CBL International does not award credits for its programmes, it does recommend credits in accordance with each course’s contact hours and academic level. The workload of CBL International programmes is equivalent to 2 ECTS/ 1 U.S. credits each week. Credits have to be granted by each participant’s home university. We encourage participants to contact the study-abroad office in advance to learn about the regulations and rules applicable.

What kind of group of students do I join? How international are the groups of delegates attending CBL International Schools?
CBL International study abroad programmes are addressing students worldwide. Most participants come from Europe, the U.S. and Australia, with an increasing number of Asian students. Oxford Summer Institute is accepting a significant number of students from Asian countries. Depending on regionally different vacation times, some regions may be over-represented at some school, however you should expect an international experience.

Will the programme content be exactly the way it is shown on the website at the moment?
CBL International starts to organise its programmes more than 6 months from the start date. This means that, for different reasons, changes are always possible. Although we work hard to realise each single course as announced, adjustments, cancellations, and alterations of parts of the programme may occur.
